Annual Fall Hydrant Maintenance Program
The Public Works Water Division will be flushing fire hydrants and water mains from Monday, October 12, 2021, through Monday, November 8, 2021. Flushing will occur during the hours of 7:30 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. During flushing, customers may experience rusty or cloudy colored water. While the water remains safe to drink, customers should run their water for 5 to 10 minutes prior to doing laundry during this time to avoid staining of clothing. If water discoloration persists, at your location for more than 24 hours after running water for 5 to 10 minutes, the water division will re-flush the water mains that serve your area. If this occurs, please call the Public Works Dispatch number at 815-235-8210 leaving your full street address and flushing request. Flushing requests can be received by our staff at the above number during the hours of 7:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. or left by phone message after normal working hours.
We appreciate your patience and support with our essential flushing maintenance program.
