Eric Borneman

1st Ward Alderperson

1408 S. Benson Blvd.
Elected 2019
Term through May 2023

Eric was born and raised in Freeport. He graduated from Freeport High School in 2006 and from Highland Community College in 2008. He earned a Bachelors degree in Communications, with a minor in Business Administration, from Northern Illinois University in 2012. Eric then attended Northern Illinois University College of Law, where he graduated with honors in 2015. Since August of 2015, after passing the Illinois Bar Exam, he has been employed as an Assistant State’s Attorney for the Stephenson County State’s Attorney’s Office.

Eric is excited to bring his experience, education and energy to City Hall. It was an easy decision for Eric to return home after graduating from law school. “Freeport is my hometown, and I’ll always have a deep connection with this city. My family has a long history here. I am honored at the opportunity to work with the members of Council, Mayor Miller, Manager Bukas and his staff, and most importantly the citizens, to help make Freeport a place that will stand out among its competition.”

In April of 2019, Eric won the general election for the 1st Ward Alderman position. His term runs until May of 2023.
