Peter McClanathan is a Freeport native who was raised in the 2nd Ward, where he currently resides with his wife and four children.
Peter is an associate attorney at Fishburn, Whiton, Thruman. He previously served as a prosecutor in the Stephenson County State’s Attorney’s Office. He previously taught as an adjunct professor teaching criminal justice courses at Highland Community College, is an active member at Park Hills Evangelical Free Church, and has served with several organizations.
While being accessible, receptive, and responsive to constituents, Peter also believes the Council should work diligently to be a responsible partner in Freeport’s growth. Peter’s goals include a Council focused on public safety, addressing the City’s long-term infrastructure needs, improving the quality of life for all residents, being good stewards of our tax dollars, and working with individuals, businesses and other partners strategic to our economic development to provide an environment that is conducive to growth.
Alderman McClanathan appreciates the opportunity to serve as 2nd Ward Alderman and encourages each resident to contribute in their own way to improving the community as we all work together to move Freeport forward.
