1870 Indian Springs Court
Appointed 2013, Elected 2015 and 2017
Term through May 2021
Elected as Alderwoman for the 6th Ward, Sally Brashaw lives on Indian Springs Court with her husband, Terry. The Brashaw’s have 6 children and 13 grandchildren. They are active members of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church and participate in several organizations in the community. Terry Brashaw is a firefighter/paramedic for the City of Freeport. Public safety is, of course, paramount in the Brashaw household.
Sally has worked with the people of Freeport in many ventures. She has managed rental real estate for 21 years. For 6 years, she served as Commissioner for Freeport Housing Authority and feels she is the voice for most working class in the City. Sally realizes that the people of Freeport seek safe homes, better jobs, and a good school system. She has worked hard on helping with the cause to make this better.
Alderwoman Brashaw’s biggest concern is that of moving Freeport forward, out of this recession, and into a better economic climate. She acknowledges that the Mayor, City Manager, and Council must work hard together to balance the budget and to pay the bills on a currently shrinking tax-base while always keeping Freeport’s best interests as a top priority.
Sally was a Freeport City Planning Commissioner for 4 years. An active member, she served 5 years on the Freeport Area Landlord’s Association Board including 2 years as President. She was a member of Illinois Rental Property Owners Association (IRPOA) and in the past, has served as North West Area Representative. Alderwoman Brashaw is a current member of The Greater Freeport Partnership, a past attendee of Candidate School, and serves as a Stephenson County GOP Precinct Committeeman.
Sally was originally appointed to fulfill a term in March 2013, that ended in May of 2015. She was then elected for a two-year term. She was elected again in 2017 for a four-year term. The term for Alderman of the 6th Ward will now remain four years. Sally’s four-year term will end May 2021.
