The Façade Improvement Program is designed to provide building owners with financial incentives to preserve, restore, and rehabilitate the exterior features of buildings located within the Downtown Tax Increment Financing (TIF) District area and Downtown Historic District. The reimbursable grants are provided in recognition of the positive impact that individual facade rehabilitations can have on the overall appearance and quality of storefronts.
The City has proposed a budget of $10,000 for 2021, funded by the Downtown TIF, and Paint the Port is setting a goal for $10,000 for their 2021 event. The total anticipated funds for 2021 will be $20,000. The funds will be payable as a reimbursement of up to 50% of the project costs, which cannot exceed $15,000 total.
Applications will be accepted through February 26, 2021. For more information, contact Kirstin Hinds, Community and Economic Development Director, at 815-235-8221.
