FREEPORT, IL — Highlights from the October 6, 2025 Freeport City Council meeting include five more demolitions being approved as part of a FEMA grant.
FEMA Grant Funds Five More Demolitions
The demolition and asbestos abatement of five properties was approved by council and will be funded by the FEMA Floodway grant program and is in line with the Strategic Plan of supporting a Safe and Inclusive Community as well as Effective Land Use. Kleckner Excavating and Fischer Excavating will both perform two of the demolitions while Alber & Son Earthworks will perform one.
Pictures of properties in order: 32 S. Hooker Avenue, 640 E. Orin Street, 623 & 625 E. Orin Street, 612 E. Orin Street, 227 N. Henderson Road.
Other News
The Fire Department recognized Amos Langlois for 10 years of service and Dyllan Oberle for five years of service. The Police Department recognized Zhdanka Nykiel for five years of service. To all these individuals, thank you for your hard work and dedication to the City and its residents!
