FREEPORT, IL — Highlights from the December 2, 2024 Freeport City Council meeting include the approval of ten property demolitions and more.

Ten Properties to be Demolished

The demolition and asbestos abatement of ten properties was approved by council through the funding of the IHDA Strong Communities Program Grant and the DCEO Flood Mitigation Grant. Alber & Son will perform eight of the demolitions. Both Northern Illinois Service and Fischer Excavating will perform one respectively.

Other News

The City recognized four loyal employees for their service: Gladys Hilton, Utility Billing, 25 years; William Niesman, PW Street, 15 years; Douglas Hill, Police, 15 years; Christopher Brennan, Fire, 10 years. Thank you to these amazing individuals for their longevity and excellence in their role.
