Traffic to be Open on Pearl City Road for Memorial Day

FREEPORT, IL – Pearl City Road construction crews are preparing to allow all traffic through the barricades to reach the Oakland Cemetery and Mausoleum for Memorial Day celebration starting Friday, May 24 at 5:00 p.m. until Monday, May 27 at dusk.

Access will be allowed from both the East and West directions on Pearl City Road. The road system is not yet complete and vehicle traffic is asked to proceed with adequate safety and caution.

“We thank those at Helm Group for allowing residents to celebrate Memorial Day with their loved ones by visiting the Cemetery,” said Mayor Jodi Miller.

According to Helm Group Contractors, crews are expecting to pave the street system the week after the holiday. This is not an announcement of project completion, rather a notice of Cemetery accessibility for the holiday weekend. For more information, please contact City Hall at 815.235.8200.
