$31 Million Awarded to City of Freeport for New Well and Cleaner Drinking Water
FREEPORT, IL – The City of Freeport has been awarded $31 Million through the Illinois EPA’s Emerging Contaminants grant and forgivable loans to build out Well #12 and continue to improve water quality in Freeport.
Portions of this funding were awarded to the City through the work of members of Fehr Graham in early 2025, with the remaining $14 Million being awarded in December 2025.
Well #12 is slated to be built at the South entrance of Krape Park on Forest Road. The Well will continue to improve water quality and increase water capacity as it serves the low zone of the City.
