Blackhawk Avenue to be Repaved during First Two Days of School

FREEPORT, IL – On Thursday, August 21 and Friday, August 22, Blackhawk Avenue will be in the process of repaving. It is extremely imperative that traffic avoids the construction area to ensure the road has the best quality repaving possible.

The City is very aware that August 21 marks the first day of school. We have worked with the school district and neighbors to find the best solution for these two days and we thank residents and school personnel tremendously for their understanding.

🛑 Drivers should find alternate drop-off methods such as the First Baptist Church parking lot just North of the school off of Empire. 🛑 Road closed signs give crews the proper space and safety to work. Ignoring them could result in injury, project malfunction and more. The City asks that you pay attention to road closed signs and obey them with the utmost caution.
