Severe Weather Leaves Crews Working to Get Power Back
FREEPORT, IL — Severe Weather on Monday, July 15, caused several trees and power lines to fall across the City.
At the height of the storm, 3,711 customers were without power in the City of Freeport. Tuesday morning, that number has come down to 526 and continually drops. ComEd is working around the clock to get everyone back in power.
Officials are advising residents to take woody yard waste to Timber Industries, the wood lot at 2133 S. Walnut Avenue, or the City yards on Island Avenue. Crews are out tending to major clean-up efforts as well as road projects that need to be complete before their deadline.
Road closed signs give crews the proper space and safety to work. Ignoring them could result in injury, project malfunction and more. The City asks that you pay attention to road closed signs and obey them with the utmost caution.
