FREEPORT, IL — Highlights from the November 18, 2024 Freeport City Council meeting include the purchase of three new squad cars to be modified for the Freeport Police Department.
Three Squad Cars Purchased
The Freeport Police Department will be replacing three squad cars with the purchase of three new 2025 Ford Explorer Police Interceptors for a total replacement cost of $148,192. This price includes the necessary modifications to add the vehicles to the department’s fleet.
The new squad cars will replace F2 (2021 Dodge Durango 75,000 miles), F5 (2021 Dodge Durango 90,000 miles), and F6 (2022 Ford Explorer 75,000 miles). This final cost also includes a $500 discount per new vehicle and a trade-in of four squad cars worth $19,000. These purchases aid the Police Department in having reliable transportation to ensure a safe community and a responsive government.
