Adopt a Street
The Adopt-A-Street program allows groups or individuals to adopt at least half-mile stretches of street and remove litter and debris at least three times in a calendar year, using City-provided trash bags, gloves, and reflective vests.
After an organization has participated in the program for a full-year, a sign will be placed along their adopted street with the name of the group or individual. Continued cleanup after one year is required for the sign to remain in place.
The Adopt-A-Street program is administered by the Community Development Department, and works in tandem with other neighborhood development initiatives, including Code Enforcement, the Northern Illinois Land Bank, and single-family housing rehabilitation grants the City routinely applies for.
