Police Department to Hold Drug Take-Back Event
FREEPORT POLICE DEPARTMENT TO HOLD DRUG TAKE BACK EVENT
On Saturday, April 30th, 2022, from 10 A.M. to 2 P.M., the Freeport Police Department will be participating in the Drug Enforcement Administration’s Prescription Drug Take Back Day event. At the Take Back Day event, the public can drop off potentially dangerous prescription medications for proper disposal.
The Take Back Day event will be held in front of the Freeport Police Department, located at 320 W. Exchange Street. Participants can pull their cars up in front of the headquarters building on Exchange Street and one of the event volunteers will collect unwanted, unused, or expired prescription medications. Pedestrians are also welcome.
Medications dropped off during this event should be separated from their containers and placed together into a sealed clear plastic bag. Please note that the department is only able to collect; tablets, capsules, patches, and other solid forms of prescription drugs. No liquids or syringes will be accepted.
Helping people properly dispose of potentially harmful prescription drugs is just one way the Freeport Police Department is working to reduce addiction and stem overdose deaths. Last year, the Department recovered over 800 pounds of prescription drugs during their 2021 Drug Take Back program.
