CITY OF FREEPORT HIRING PUBLIC SAFETY POSITIONS

The City of Freeport is currently accepting applications for public safety positions in Police, Fire, and 9-1-1 Dispatch.

The Freeport Police Department is currently hiring entry level police officers. High School Diploma or GED equivalent required. Must be 21 years of age to 35 years of age. The starting salary for entry-level officers is $57,828.23 per year with aggressive rate increases. Additionally, the Freeport Police Department has openings for lateral transfers, also known as experienced officers up to 10 years of law enforcement experience.

An often overlooked, yet essential part of public safety, is 9-1-1 Dispatch. The City of Freeport is hiring Telecommunicator Operators at $19.41 per hour. The next testing date for this position is held in April 2023. Meanwhile, the Freeport Fire Department is hiring Firefighters. Candidates must be 21 to 35 years of age, unless exempt by state statute. The entry level salary for a Freeport Firefighter is $47,665.32 per year with aggressive rate increases. The Freeport Fire Department’s application period ends May 1, 2023.
