Adams Avenue Reconstruction

CONSTRUCTION UPDATE
Crews have currently replaced approximately 800 ft of watermain on Clinton Street and Clinton Place. Crews have just begun work on Adams Avenue starting at Float Avenue and working towards Arcade Avenue. Adams Avenue Reconstruction is one of the largest locally-funded street reconstruction in City history.

Residents are encouraged to follow road closures and construction signage for crew and traveler safety. During this time, please note that there will be major travel inconveniences while Adams Avenue’s infrastructure is being reconstructed, but revitalization is critical to the improvement and longevity of the artery.

WHY IS THIS PROJECT IMPORTANT?
The Adams Avenue Reconstruction will include new water, sewer, and storm water infrastructure, curb, street surface, and a bike lane on Adams Avenue from Float to Arcade. Additionally, new water main will be installed from Float Ave to Exchange Ave along Adams in 2024. The total reconstruction is critical to the residents of the 3rd and 5th wards, as well as travelers and businesses that use Adams Avenue as a main artery through the City of Freeport. Adams Avenue reconstruction is anticipated to be under construction for 15 months. The project cost is $10 million.
