CONSOLIDATED ELECTION – APRIL 1, 2025
The City of Freeport will hold an election to nominate candidates for the offices of Alderman Ward 2, Alderman Ward 4, Alderman Ward 6, Mayor, and City Clerk. The terms of office for these positions will be four years.
For nomination petitions and required documentation, please consult the 2025 Candidate’s Guide available at https://www.elections.il.gov/RunningForOffice.aspx?MID=rOlNCTNZd9A%3d. These documents contain petition forms, election information, signature requirements, and filing guidelines. Please visit the website for the Illinois State Board of Elections periodically for any changes or amendments to the 2025 Candidate’s Guide.

Petition circulation began Tuesday, July 30, 2024. Candidates running for offices within the City of Freeport will be required to file their nominating petitions in the Office of the City Clerk, 314 W. Stephenson St., during regular business hours from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Established party candidates are to file their petitions from Monday, October 21, through Monday, October 28, 2024. Independent or new party candidates are to file their petitions from Tuesday, November 12, through Monday, November 18, 2024. On November 18, the Clerk’s office will be open until 5:00 pm.

* Statements of Economic Interest MUST be completed and filed with the Stephenson County Clerk at 50 W. Douglas St, Freeport IL. Receipts from the Stephenson County Clerk must be turned into the City Clerk’s office no later than the end of the filing period on Monday, November 18, 2024
