Three Road Work Projects to Narrow Lanes for Motorists

FREEPORT, IL — Several streets across the City of Freeport will be the site of road work starting Thursday, April 24, causing slower traffic and a boil order to be required in certain areas.

Kiwanis Drive will be narrowed to one lane northbound as construction crews work to improve two driveways at 1125 Kiwanis Drive (Sentry Insurance Co). This project will affect traffic for approximately one week.

Parts of W. Clark Street, West of N. Galena Avenue, will be closed due to a sewer collapse that is in need of repair. This area will be affected for one to two days.

On Monday, April 29, W. Stephenson Street will be reduced to one lane in between S. Chicago Avenue and N. Van Buren Avenue. A water main issue will be addressed by city crews, which will also result in a boil order for the area.

“We are grateful to the residents of Freeport for being understanding as we work to improve so many different parts of our city,” said Fehr Graham’s Darin Stykel. “Our crews are working hard to finish these projects and get motorists back on safe roads.”

All listed estimated project completion times are weather dependent.
