FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
RE: STORM BRANCH-TWIG DEBRIS PICK UP
The City of Freeport recognizes that clean up from Saturday’s wind storm will require disposal of tree limbs and branches caused by the storm. Currently we are asking for the following guidelines for pickup:
- All tree limbs and branches brought down as a result of the wind storm should be stacked behind the curb of the individual’s residence. Any and all debris needs to be placed between the sidewalk and the roadway. Please do not park in front of the branches.
- Larger tree limbs (greater than 4 feet and larger than 2-inch diameter) and branches brought down as a result of the wind storm should be cut and stacked behind the curb of the individual’s residence.
- Under no circumstances should any type of storm debris be piled or pushed into the street. Such debris can be washed into the drainage inlets in a subsequent storm clogging them and creating a flooding hazard.
Please have the tree limbs and branches ready for pickup. Call the Public Works Dispatch Center at 815-235-8210 to make sure they have your address.
This service will end on Monday, May 10, 2021 at Noon.
